Hey!! I’m Kyra, the photographer behind Crimson Conure Photography. I was born and raised in Georgia, but id travel full time in my camper if time allowed for it
Crimson Conure isn’t just a random name. It comes from my bird, Tarpley. She’s a crimson-bellied conure and I’ve had her since I was 16. <3 She’s been by my side through every phase of life, including the entire journey of building this business. In a weird way, she represents exactly what my work is about: loyalty, personality, and being fully yourself.
I got into photography because a lot of styles growing up just didn’t click for me. Photos felt stiff, too posed, or disconnected from the people in them. Because of that, now my approach is the opposite. I guide you when you need it, keep things moving so nothing feels awkward, and create space for real moments to happen naturally. Most clients tell me it feels more like hanging out than a photoshoot- which is the whole point. I love all of my client friends that I've made through the years!
On wedding days, I’m calm, observant, and very much on your team. Brides contantly thank me for standing up for them, protecting their time, and handling things behind the scenes so they don’t have to. It's my favorite compliment ever! I’ll hype you up, keep things on track, and step in when something needs to be handled without making it a big deal.
My business is an inclusive, judgment-free space. Every background, every identity, every kind of love is welcome here. Whether we’re shooting a wedding, a portrait session, or something in between, my goal is always the same: make you feel comfortable, supported, and seen.
Because photos shouldn’t make you feel awkward or like you’re pretending to be someone else. Growing up, a lot of photography styles just didn’t align with me, and I knew there had to be a way to make photos feel easier and more real. Now, my favorite part of this job is watching people relax into themselves and realizing, “Oh… this isn’t scary.” I love turning real people into art by paying attention to who they actually are, which is why each gallery is so unique. The way they move, laugh, connect, and light up around their loved ones. If I can give you photos that feel honest, comfortable, and like something you’ll actually recognize yourself in years from now, then I’ve done my job well.
