Send over what you’re thinking, even if the plan is currently just “pretty location, cool outfits, not awkward.” I’ll look through the type of session, location, timing, and overall vibe so we can build a couples session, engagement session, or portrait session that represents your unique love.

Reach Out

Once we pick a date and session type, I’ll send over the questionnaire, contract and retainer to make it official. Your session isn't booked on the calendar until both your contract and retainer are finished, since Colorado couples sessions, travel dates, and weekends disappear way faster than they should.

Before your session, we’ll go over location, outfits, timing, weather, parking, and anything else that matters before you’re standing in front of the camera! Whether we’re shooting in Denver, the Colorado foothills, North Georgia, Savannah, or somewhere completely different, this is where we make the plan feel easy ahead of time.

You show up, and I'll handle the posing and prompts. I’ll guide you through movement, prompts, and poses that match your vibe instead of forcing you into the same recycled engagement photos that everyone has already seen a ton.

I don't expect you to show up knowing how to pose. That would be a weird expectation, honestly.

I’ll give you enough direction so that you aren't left standing there wondering what to do with your hands, but I’m not going to force you into stiff poses for an hour either. We’ll start with movement, small prompts, walking, leaning, sitting, talking, and letting your body settle. Once I can see how the two of you naturally interact, I’ll pull in more intentional portraits.

What kind of direction do you give?

back

Most couples tell me this. Almost none of them are actually awkward. They are just not used to being photographed.

Awkward usually happens when people are given vague direction like “just be yourselves” with a camera pointed at them. That is not helpful. I’ll tell you where to stand, what to do, when to move, when to slow down, and when something looks good. You can be quiet, loud, goofy, affectionate, shy, chaotic, or somewhere in the middle. I’ll work with that instead of trying to turn you into a completely different couple.

What if we're awkward in front of the camera?

back

Wear something that feels like you, but more intentional than what you threw on to run errands. I care more about shape, movement, texture, and how the clothes work with the location than whether you followed a Pinterest color palette perfectly.

For Colorado sessions, layers are usually your friend. Mountain weather can change fast, wind is common, and temperatures can drop quickly once the sun starts going down.

I have an entire style guide for you to look over as you plan your session! Ask me about it to learn more.

What should we wear?

back

It depends on the location. Colorado has a lot of strong natural color, so outfits should work with the landscape instead of disappearing into it.

You can absolutely wear bold color. I would rather help you make color work well than shove everyone into beige because the internet said so.

Looking for more info on what to wear? Ask to check out my style guide!

What colors photograph best?

back

Yes. Headliner and On Tour both include up to two outfits, and Opening Set is built around one since it's a shorter session. If you want an extra look beyond what your package includes, just mention it while we're planning and we'll figure out if there's room in the timeline.

Can we do more than one outfit?

back

This is honestly one of my favorite parts of planning a session. I'll ask about your style, what feels like "you," and how far you're willing to drive, then send over a few location options that fit the season, the light, and the vibe you're going for. Colorado has an absurd amount of range within an hour of Denver, so we usually don't have to go far to get something that feels epic.

How do we pick a location?

back

Depends on where we're shooting. Some state parks, National Forest land, and specific Colorado locations require a permit, and I'll tell you upfront if your dream spot needs one. I handle the permit guidance so you're not stuck figuring out a government website the week of your session.

Do we need a permit?

back

I'm based in Colorado and regularly shoot around Denver, the foothills, and the mountains, plus travel back to Georgia throughout the year. If your session is somewhere else entirely, send me the location anyway. Between the car and camper setup, I travel further and more often than most photographers, and I'd rather look into it than assume it's off the table.

How far do you travel for sessions?

back

Golden hour is usually the move: early morning or the couple of hours before sunset. That said, some locations actually photograph better in overcast light or midday shade, so I'll help you pick a time that fits the location instead of defaulting to sunset every time.

What time of day should we schedule photos?

back

Colorado weather changes its mind more than anyone I've ever met, so we build in flexibility from the start. If it's unsafe, we reschedule. If it's just moody, we usually lean into it, since clouds, fog, and even a little rain tend to make for some of the most memorable galleries.

What happens if the weather is bad?

back

Yes, please. Dogs are welcome at sessions as long as the location allows pets, and I'll double check that when we're picking a spot. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan a few extra minutes for treats, chaos, and inevitable zoomies.

Can we bring our dog?

back

It depends on the package and how much ground we cover, but you can expect the ranges listed under each collection: 15+ for Opening Set, 40+ for Headliner, and 80+ for On Tour. I deliver every strong image instead of holding back for a specific number, so most sessions land at or above that range.

How many photos will we get?

back

As soon as you know you want a session, especially for weekends, holidays, and peak fall color in Colorado. Those dates go first. If your timing is more flexible, a few weeks out is usually fine, but I'd rather you reach out too early than lose the date you actually wanted.

How far in advance should we book?
