A relaxing summer maternity session
M + T caught me at literally the perfect time. We did their maternity photos outdoors in Atlanta right before I packed up my life and moved across the country to Denver, and I’m SO glad they made it onto my calendar before I left.
M actually found me through one of my past clients, which will never stop being one of my favorite ways to meet new people. Like... you trusted me with your photos AND THEN sent your friends to me??? That is the cutest compliment ever, pls 😭
Then I found out M is a tattoo artist, which made complete sense approximately five seconds after meeting her. She’s funny, goofy, ridiculously easy to photograph, and brought so much personality into the session without ever feeling like she was trying to put on a maternity-photo version of herself.
And T was just SO sweet with her.
That was probably my favorite thing about photographing the two of them together. M would be goofing around and making me laugh, while T had this really calm, kind energy with her the entire time. They balance each other in such a cute way, and you can tell how excited they both are about the little family they’re building.
This is their first baby too, A BABY BOY!!! 🥹
There’s something really special about maternity photos before your first baby arrives because everything is about to be completely different, but for a little while longer, it’s still just the two of you. You’re waiting for this tiny person you already love like crazy but haven’t even met yet. Like excuse me??? How am I supposed to photograph that and NOT get emotionally invested???
M also absolutely understood the outfit assignment. She wore this flowy two-piece that moved beautifully outside and showed off her bump without feeling like the stereotypical maternity gown situation. Between that, the light we had, and how comfortable these two were together, the whole session photographed SO beautifully.
I love maternity sessions that still have some personality to them. You don’t suddenly have to become a completely different person just because you’re pregnant. Wear something you actually feel good in. Laugh. Be weird with your husband. Move around. Love on each other. Your maternity photos can be beautiful without suddenly looking like you’ve been transported into a beige Pinterest board from 2017.
Now look at how freaking cute they are!!!

See??? SWEETHEARTS.
This was one of those galleries where everything just worked together. M’s outfit, the outdoor setting, that gorgeous light, her being completely incapable of taking herself too seriously for very long, and T being so gentle with her through all of it. It felt like them, which is always what I care about most.
And now I’m just VERY excited for their little boy to get here.
One of my favorite parts of photographing couples through different parts of their lives is knowing these photos are eventually going to mean something completely different to them. Right now, they’re maternity photos. A year from now, they’ll look at them while their baby is crawling around the house. Years from now, their son gets to see what his parents looked like when they were waiting for him.
LIKE??? 😭
I photographed this session in Atlanta during my last little stretch in Georgia, but I’m now based in Denver and bringing this same approach to maternity photography in Colorado.
I want my Denver maternity sessions to feel like an extension of the people in them. That can mean getting dressed up and chasing pretty Colorado light, running around somewhere in the foothills, keeping it casual closer to Denver, or planning something completely different because you saw an idea somewhere and now you can’t stop thinking about it.
You do not need to know how to pose. You don’t have to suddenly become serious because these are “important photos.” And you definitely don’t have to give up your actual style in favor of whatever the internet has decided maternity photography is supposed to look like this year.
You just need to show up as yourselves.
I’ll help with the rest.
M + T were one of the sweetest sessions to end my time in Atlanta with, and I’m sooo happy another client brought M into my life in the first place. Now somebody PLEASE tell this baby boy to hurry up because I would like to see him already!!!
If you’re expecting and looking for a Denver maternity photographer for outdoor, colorful, relaxed maternity photos that still feel like you, I’d absolutely love to hear what you’re thinking.
